OK. POKEMON CANON POINT. Because AIM is 100 butts.

Here are the things to discuss:

Our current canon point is moments before Spear Pillar. That means the red chain has been created and the Lake Trio has been released, but Palkia and/or Dialga haven't been summoned yet.
Do we want to do a canon update to post-Spear Pillar, then? Keep canon where it is? Retcon?
Dawg has some concerns about doing an update: "The whole thing I'd be all "eh" about it is the fact of Dana's personality change post-spear pillar. If we're going to settle going by Plat's storyline. :'| It'd be so much of a hassle for me to redo her whole personality from "bubbly little thing that's curious but srs" to "so cold and untrusting to humans that she'd rather sit in a tree than go and talk to someone at first :'|" And of course Lucas' backstory would have to increase and there's a bunch of information that suddenly came crashing in because he's actually a major part in some of that part of the storyline "IE: Watching Legendaries fall from the sky and going "8O DAWN OMG" and stuff" skdfjskdf"
Basically; Spear Pillar would have a profound effect on Dialga that Dawg doesn't really want happening quite yet, though canon updating would make things easier for Cyrus' characterization.
Another concern I had: if it's all right with everyone, could we assume that the Platinum version of events is canon? It would have an important effect on potential Giratina appers, for one thing, and I'm not entirely comfortable with telling anyone who may be interested in apping Looker or Charon that their character is unappable or wouldn't be allowed to have any of their canon CR.

Would it be at all possible for Dialga to not remember the events, given Uxie's ability to erase memory?

And if at all possible, I'd prefer NOT to make Cyrus Pt-verse. They did things to him there that I didn't like at all, especially the scene in the base after his speech. He came off as just plain greedy, while in DP and pretty much every other continuity excluding the anime, he was driven by a sense of wanting to genuinely improve the universe (albiet picking perhaps the worst possible way to do so), and I liked the dichotomy and moral issues it presents far more than "oh hey this guy's a dick".

How would you feel about AUing it a bit, then? SBG's canons are kind of... semi-quasi-AU'd for the most part, anyway. We could keep Plat's events, but DP's motives behind them?

I could get behind that, for the most part. How about the Distortion World? We'd have to involve Giratina for that.

And then I'd have to figure how long he'd be there. I mean, he *can* apparently leave given that you can and there's nothing stopping him, but at that point he's kinda...really far gone and stays there willingly.

Well, time doesn't flow in the Distortion World. So that might not be an issue, if I'm remembering the pseudo-laws of physics correctly.

Hmm, good point. Although it would make a difference to him, since the perception of time is there.

Hmmmm. This could lead to him finding the "alternate" Spear Pillar, ie the Smash Bros one.

Ummm. To my knowledge, the Smash Bros. one... doesn't actually exist. It's actually like a holodeck simulation used for spars in the stadium, based off the real Spear Pillar.

Again, that'll only be a factor if we opt to canon-update. And if that is the case, then anyone who wanted to app Giratina would probably have to talk to you/other relevant castmates. Which should be happening anyway, ideally.

Off-topic, but I can kind of understand Cyrus wanting to stay in the Distortion World. There's no sentiment, no suffering or war or strife... just him and that screechy spaceworm flying around over yonder. In a way, it'd be a little like the paradise he was after.

Donno. He says it's not what he's after because he wants to bring that to everyone. But he thinks he can control that world despite having nothing to do so with, which is what I mean by "so far gone".

I just apped Mesprit having gone through everything in Diamond. Should I retcon it to be after she's released? And if so, should I have her seek out the protagonist (which I've learned is Dawn in this game), or should I have her just go "FWEEEEEE" and explore on her own?

Unless we work out a better idea, it might be for the best to stick with that point. Whatever you have Mesprit do is totally up to you. If we were being exactly-perfectly-canon-stickling, then she'd sit in Lake Verity doing nothing until Dawn came to visit, at which point she'd be all "LET'S PLAY TAG WHEEEE" and commence roaming, so... it should be okay to cut straight to the roaming part.

I know plot-wise that the Frontier Brains had nothing much to do with story except get beating the shit out of themselves, but if we're going D/P canon, does that mean I can't app Thorton or do I just need to retcon him saying he was Johto instead of Sinnoh?

This sort of situation is why I'm pushing for use to go with Platinum canon. Going with DP canon isn't really an option for characters like Frontier Brains, so... speaking from a mod standpoint, I don't think I could refuse an app just because it was Plat canon.

Considering the Battle Frontier itself is a postgame extra which doesn't drastically affect the entire storyline, anyway, it should be fine to include Platinum's version. SBG's got plenty of AU mashups going on.
